Google chat now is very popular these days; one can message a person or group in Google chat. It's the same as a classic hangout, but with some advanced features. How to use Google chat?

To get started with Google chat, you first need to go to the Gmail setting and turn on Google chat. You can also take help from Google customer service if need any helping hand.

To start a conversation on desktop

• First sign in to your Gmail account
• Click on "Google chat"
• You can also use the chat standalone app
• Now if you are want to chat with someone whose name is not there,
• You can click on start a "chat"
• Now enter a name or email id, you will get suggestions as soon as you will start entering the name
• Now, if you want to chat with someone outside your association, fill in their email id
• Enter your message and click send

Also if you a part of a school account, then you will receive everyone's names in your suggestion although they don't use Google chat. In that case, to reply to you, they can start chat once after accepting your request.

To start a group conversation you can follow the steps below.

• Go to your Gmail account, open Google chat
• Now click on existing group conversation, write your message and click send
• If you want to chat in a new group click on start a chat under the chat option, and then start a group conversation.
• Fill in a name or email id. You will get a suggestion as so as you will enter a name.
• Click on "done"
• Enter your message and send
